Single-sensor multi-instance fingerprint and eigenfinger recognition using (weighted) score combination methods

چکیده
When multiple instances of single biometrics can be acquired from a single input simultaneously, a multiple-step acquisition at additional transaction time cost can be avoided. We present a rotation-invariant, peg-free multi-instance Fingerprint and Eigenfinger-based biometric system extracting multiple features from a palmar scan of the hand. Our evaluation targets (a) rankings of individual fingers with respect to Minutiae and Eigenfinger features; (b) fusion of multiinstance intra-feature (Minutiae or Eigenfinger) matching scores; (c) cross-feature compared to intra-feature performance; (d) optimal weights for weighted versions of five score-level fusion methods Max, Median, Min, Product and Sum, and (e) aspects of computational demands for hand-based identification discussing the usage of serial classifier combinations instead of classically employed parallel ones. We examine results of an experimental approach to the problem of finding a suitable fusion method by investigating the effect of matcher-specific combination weights on recognition accuracy and compare cross-feature and intra-feature score combinations.

Performance Evaluation of Fusing Protected Fingerprint Minutiae Templates on the Decision Level
In a biometric authentication system using protected templates, a pseudonymous identifier is the part of a protected template that can be directly compared. Each compared pair of pseudonymous identifiers results in a decision testing whether both identifiers are derived from the same biometric characteristic. Compared to an unprotected system, most existing biometric template protection methods...
متن کاملDetermining Cluster-Heads in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks Using Multi-Objective Evolutionary based Algorithm
A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET), a set of wirelessly connected sensor nodes, is a dynamic system that executes hop-by-hop routing independently with no external help of any infrastructure. Proper selection of cluster heads can increase the life time of the Ad-hoc network by decreasing the energy consumption. Although different methods have been successfully proposed by researchers to tackle...

متن کاملMultimodal Biometrics Information Fusion for Efficient Recognition using Weighted Method
Biometrics do not provide unique identification. The matching process is probabilistic and is liable to measureable lapse error. A mistaken verfication or identification where the wrong person is matched against an enrolled user is termed a False Acceptance and the rate at which these occur is the False Acceptance Rate (FAR). Conversely, an error that occurs where a legitimate user fails to be ...
متن کاملFingerprint verification by fusion of optical and capacitive sensors
A few works have been presented so far on information fusion for fingerprint verification. None, however, have explicitly investigated the use of multi-sensor fusion, in other words, the integration of the information provided by multiple devices to capture fingerprint images. In this paper, a multi-sensor fingerprint verification system based on the fusion of optical and capacitive sensors is ...
